Hand-Sewing Lesson and Afternoon Tea

Sunday, March 22nd 11 AM til 3 PM

“You shall not wash dishes,

Nor feed the swine,

But sit on a cushion

And sew a fine seam,

And sup upon strawberries,

Sugar, and cream.”

Like the nursery rhyme says—sewing a fine seam is a restful and luxurious pastime! Most of us have never learned how to do this, but on

Sunday, March 22, we’ll all slow down, rest, and enjoy a luxurious afternoon tea and a hand-sewing lesson!

Sarah Woodyard of Sewn will teach you the ancient beautiful art of hand-sewing, in the lovely country setting of historic Peace Hill Farm. Sit and sew a fine seam, appreciate the quiet landscape and the green hint of spring spreading across the fields, and then indulge in a traditional British afternoon tea (three kinds of finger sandwiches, ham biscuits, tea bread, scones, and cookies! Sugar and cream included—strawberries will be out of season, but no worries, you’ll be well fed!).

You’ll go home with a full stomach, a quieted mind, and two linen napkins on which you’ve practiced your hand-sewing skills. $60 includes tea, linen napkins, and the lesson.
